Playgroup
When: Every Wednesday from 10am to 12pm (school term)
Where: @St Mark’s
Our Playgroup is led by an experienced former pre-school teacher in the comfortable kids church hall. The children start with free play after which they have craftwork and story time. Playgroup then finishes with music and singing. These activities are conducted in both Mandarin and English.
The usual fee is a $50 one off term fee (morning tea included), but you’re welcome to check us out at a free introductory session.
Need more information? Please email playgroup@tima.au or call our office – 03 9850 2393
All our leaders are required to have a current Working With Children Check and to suitably fulfil all relevant checks and references.
We are a friendly Christian playgroup to which little children from babies to five years are most welcome. Church membership and/or attendance is not a prerequisite – all are welcome.

Next Generation English Service
When: Every Friday at 7:30pm
Where: @St Stephens
We begin with a meal, followed by a time of worship and investigating what it means to live by faith at 7:30, we then finish the evening with games and activities. We aim to have a fun time – but also a meaningful one. Grade 6 to uni students welcome!

English Class
When: Wednesday at 7.00 pm (school terms)
Where: @St Mark’s Church
The classes are free and people with any level of English are welcome. The presenters are trained teachers. The lessons are coordinated by Dr Maren Rawlings who completed a Master of TESOL at the University of Melbourne in 2021.
For those who are starting English, small groups with easy material are provided. For the more advanced, examples of topics in the two years so far, have included health, sleep and first aid, cooking around the world, the Australian voting systems, and animals in the home countries of students. Conversation is really encouraged and students can suggest ideas and problems around which lessons can be based. Students who attend come from a variety of backgrounds and faiths.

Safe Ministry
Childsafe
We take child safety seriously at Tima. All our staff and our volunteers who work with children are required to complete a Working With Children Check and a Police Check. All staff must be first cleared via Kooyara Professional Standards protocols before engaging in work at St Mark’s and St Stephen’s.
We seek to ensure a safe and God-honouring youth and families ministry at St Mark’s, Templestowe and St Stephen’s, Balwyn.
All those in leadership positions are also required to complete Safe Ministry training. Our aim is both the safety and security of children and families, and that our families would know God’s love in practical ways, as well as through engaging biblical teaching.
Our Child Safety Officer (CSO) is Ms Jennie Dong and can be contacted at childsafe@tima.au
For further information, such as the Anglican Diocese’s Safe Ministry Policy and the Code of Conduct for Child Safety, please head to the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne’s Safe Ministry webpage.
Prevention of Violence Against Women
St Mark’s supports the Anglican Diocese of Melbourne’s initiative for the Prevention of Violence Against Women (PVAW).
Violence against anyone in a family, and even your enemies, is certainly against the teaching of Jesus (Matthew 26:47-56). Sadly, women and childlen are those most likely to be harmed in a domestic situation. As a church community we are not immune to this issue. However, with God’s help, we seek to challenge behaviours that underpin violence. We want to support and protect those who live in fear of domestic violence, with a need for justice, care and new pathways in family wellbeing.
Our staff and volunteers are trained and committed to support the prevention of violence in families. Please contact us if you are seeking help at this time.
For more information on the Prevention of Violence Against Women initiative please see the diocese’s PVAW website.
